《尔雅中文·中国文化基础（上）》共有十五课内容，每课一般包括学习目标与预习思考、课文、生词、文化注释及专有名词、练习等几大板块。课文编选的都是中国文化中最具代表性的内容，如名胜古迹、饮食、文学、艺术、民俗、武术、服饰等，以帮助学生了解中国文化的基本面貌，感受中国文化的悠久历史与独特魅力；同时课文内容尽量做到生动有趣，在叙述上深入浅出，且照顾到留学生和其他外国友人的独特视角，为他们日后继续学习中国文化、传播中国文化提供动力。生词配有拼音和中文解释，除了考虑学习者的词汇量，尤其注重选取学生在其他课型中不常见的文化类专门性词语，凸显教材及课程特色。文化注释主要是对课文中出现的相关名词、概念的文化背景进行简单介绍，帮助学生更好地理解课文。练习部分有选择词语填空、画线连接词语和解释、判断对错、选择正确答案、课堂讨论和今天我来讲等内容，旨在帮助学生强化生词学习，理解课文，掌握文化知识，进行自由的观点阐发。
